I May be the Only One Out There That Feels This Way, But...

After yesterday's post, I thought I would end the week on a bit of a lighter note. I love Ellen. The show, the woman, everything. I think she is a great lady who does a lot of great things for people. I don't think she ever comes off as too full of herself or trying to get everyone to think she's so great. I usually try to catch all the shows whether I watch when it's on or have it on recording to watch sometime during the day.

However, there are some reoccurring guests that I am not agreeing with.

A few months back, Ellen featured one of the famous YouTube videos of Sophia Grace and Rosie. If you are unfamiliar, go ahead and take a look. I think most people know who I am talking about. Ellen has made them "famous." I too thought they were so cute when I first saw them, loved their interview and couldn't believe that little, British girl memorized those words to Nikki Minaj's Super Bass.

So far I have seen them back on the show three more times {they may have appeared more, I don't catch every show} and the more I see, the more I don't like. These little girls are five and eight years old. The are, or are portraying, that they are completely obsessed with celebrities. I understand that kids go through phases and find certain things entertaining at different times and it is funny here and there. That Sophia Grace memorized that song would have been funny and it would have been fine to leave it at that. However, apparently Ellen keeps inviting them back and obviously their parents are going right along with it.

Everyone is enabling these girls to immerse themselves in the world of celebrities--the were Ellen's correspondents at the Grammies--which I find to be a little unhealthy. Not that I see anything wrong with being a fan and liking certain celebrities or songs or anything but it seems like these girls' image is being built on idolizing celebrities. Call me a prude but I think kids need to get a little bit older to become immersed in celebrity entertainment so that there may be some possibility of them understanding reality. On another note, they don't live in America. So their frequent appearances on the show are obviously causing them to miss school. How is that okay?

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer here and I can totally appreciate a cute kids' performance just as much as the next person but I think this is going a little bit too far. I understand Ellen just thinks they are cute and likes doing nice things for people and maybe she isn't seeing the underlying negatives of the situation. So, Ellen, as much as I respect you, I have to disagree on this matter.

Monday Mumblings

I love a rainy fall day that I get to stay home all day in my pajamas. I can do chores at my own pace, relax, watch a TV show here or there. It's really nice.
Someone else posted about this this morning but I have to chime in. Desperate Housewives is just losing me. I want to watch because it is the final season but more often than not I wander off to do something else and realize I have missed 15 minutes of the show! Would Tom and Lynette just figure things out already?!
I am definitely feeling more at peace with being ready for the baby than I was last week. All of a sudden I get overwhelmed by things but then realize that we are ready. We just need the baby.
I am coming to terms with the fact that this will be my last week of work.
I am getting a little over anxious to decorate for Christmas. I know, I know. It's still early. I think I can hold out for two more weeks!
For some reason I have been loving frozen, chopped spinach. I usually eat one package at a time but I could probably eat two.
I am so lucky to have such loving, generous and wonderful friends and family.
I need to get some new house plants to put in a planter Ben made.
I don't feel like I really have any TV shows that I am so in love with these days, but for some reason I have having a hard time with pulling the plug on the cable.
I think that our dog senses the addition to the family and she is needing some extra attention lately.
It was really cold and clear the past couple of days and I loved it.
We put our fleece sheets on our bed a few weeks ago and I LOVE them.
I watched quite a bit of football this weekend {for me}, like actually really watched it, and I enjoyed it!
There is a lot of tag removing and washing that comes with having a baby.

What are your randoms for this Monday?

Just Some Monday Mumblings...

This past weekend was Ben's birthday. We celebrated doing just what we like to do. Started the morning with a big breakfast, relaxed, Skyped with Ben's parents and he opened the gift from them which was a new camera {yay!}, watched college football, I made a dessert and then my parents came over for homemade fish and chips {sweet potato fries} and coleslaw. Overall it was a nice day at home and time spent with my hubs. Happy 27th Birthday, Ben!

Isn't he cute?

Dessert
I found this dessert recipe on Pinterest and when I saw it and read the recipe it sounded like a really good idea. However, after eating it, it may not have been a good idea. It was really good. Just really, really heavy and rich. But, by all means, give it a whirl if you are brave. And have a really strong heart!

I feel like the fall and winter months put me much more in the mood for cooking hot or more involved dinners. What else is there to do when it is just rainy and dreary out?!

This is the Pioneer Woman's Cajun Chicken Pasta. She made it last weekend on her show. I am still a little undecided on her show. I want to like it because I love her blog, her cookbook and the starting of her love story that I have read. However, I am feeling like her show is just a little forced. Her family is super cute and I love their ranch but it all just kind of looks too staged. Hopefully she finds her comfort zone on TV and gets into a groove. Big props to her for even trying though. No way I could just jump on TV like that and put myself out there for everyone to see!

I finally finished the Hunger Games trilogy. I really liked it and they were all a quick, easy read. Very entertaining and good for some light reading.

I am sad that Big Brother is over, as I always am at the end of summer but I am excited for new seasons of shows to start.

Ben and I love this show. It is funny, entertaining and it gives us both a good laugh every Wednesday.

We actually started watching this show just because it was on before Modern Family but then started liking it as well.

I admit, Ben doesn't watch this show with me. However, I love it and it makes me wish I had more brothers and sisters.

I have watched this show since the beginning. It has become a little embarrassing because the show has gotten quite out of hand and is pretty unrealistic at times. However, it is still entertaining. This is the last season so obviously I have to tune in to see what becomes of all these bored housewives.

Pretty random post but that's what's goin' down around here. Read any good books lately? What are your favorite shows in the fall lineup? How many desserts do you get sucked into on Pinterest?

Shows, Shmows

I don't know what it is about certain TV shows that I just can't help but watch. I have been watching Desperate Housewives from the beginning and even though the past few seasons have been going strain down the spiral of ridculousness, make-believeness and boringness all in the same, I keep tuning in. Why? I don't know. I find myself distracted during the show, doing other things {like blogging} yet I still record it.

The next show that keeps showing up on my DVR week after week despite my lackluster attitude toward it is Brothers and Sisters. At first I loved this show. I loved the idea of such a big family that always got together for dinner and while they had their little tiffs here and there, they always loved and supported each other. Sally Field as the mother can get to be a lot to handle, but even she is pretty cute most of the time. I find myself feeling the same about this show--I am doing other things during it, nothing is going on and its boring.

I just haven't found a dramatic show that I am head over heels for lately. We watch the comedies Modern Family and The Middle which we love but no dramas. Maybe I am looking on the wrong channel for gosh sakes!

On to the show I am still excited to watch. Obviously, The Bachelor. Yes, that's right, I am totally sucked back in and can't wait to see what unfolds tonight. I definitely have some front-runners on who I think will win Brad's heart and some loonies who will most likely be sent packing pretty soon. My current favorites include:
Ashley H.
Emily
Jackie
And the gals I don't think will last quite as long:
Madison
Michelle
Haven't really had a chance to make decisions on some of the others yet since these girls seem to be stealing the show so far. I will be tuning in tonight for what promises to be another dramatic showing with tears, gowns and roses.

What are your favorite shows lately? Is there a favorite drama of yours that I am missing out on? Is it really just time for me to turn in my remote and stick to the paperbacks for my drama?

"Reality" TV

Ok, ok, ok, OK! Even after every season of the Bachelor or Bachelorette when I swear to not tune in next season because it was too unrealistic, didn't like who the end result was, swore I wasn't going to like the Bachelor/Bachelorette...I keep coming back for more!

Seriously, when I started hearing the mumblings of Brad Womack  being the next Bachelor after leaving two women with no rose or ring on his last season, I snubbed my nose and proclaimed I wouldn't watch. Where did I find myself last night right when I got home from work? Glued to the DVR hanging on every eager lady's word and of course criticizing and judging every single one. What is wrong with me? Why can't I get away from it? Oh, because I like to be entertained and let me tell you, that is exactly what this show is. Whether all or none of it or some of it is staged, acted out, re-enacted or what-have-you, I soak it up to the last drop. When those previews for the next week start rollin' I count the days until next week's episode. Honestly, I do not look at it as realistic for these crazies to find "true love" I just find it highly entertaining television.

He claims he has changed, is "in it for the right reasons" this time, wants the women to trust him but we shall see. Can't wait to see what ABC  has in store for us and to get my sick fill of "reality TV." {It is a sickness. Just ask Hub.}

What do you think of Brad? Did you watch his last season? Do you think this just is just absurd and can't stand the idea of it?
